San Diego & Santa Ynez Wine Country 🇺🇸

November, 2024

Back in Southern California

With bittersweet thoughts was I traveling to Southern California. I attended a special memorial for one of my long time friends from La Jolla while the horrible wild🔥 were still raging in LA.

The Golden State always had his bright and darker sides, yet it remains probably my favorite region around the world besides 🏠 🤩

Memorial

Together with other friends and family I was fortunate enough to join this special event aboard “The World” looking back to a great person’s life. Through the speeches it became clear to how many people he was an inspiration. His most famos words I will never forget:

“There are only two types of days:
Good days and great days

The next day I had the honor to lead and moderate a tasting of Dave’s favorite wines.

San Diego County

No visit to San Diego is complete without touring the two vast differences the place has to offer. Of course the great beaches but equally to me its back country with the mountain and desert areas which offer great activities and adventures away from the crowds.

Santa Ynez Wine Country

This time in Southern CA and just having finished my WSET Diploma education I decided to give the Santa Barbara Wine Region a visit. Funny enough that name is really misleading since almost all the vineyards actually are situated in and around the Santa Ynez Valley. I spent a few fantastic days driving around the beautiful landscape in my Ford Mustang, visiting cosy villages and getting direct access to wineries and wine makers through my connection from wine school.
